Rakentaja.fi’s membership growth has been amazing in 2004. During the first nine months of the year we have gained 20,873 new members, for a total membership of 65,704 at the end of September. The number of page hits also tells something about the activeness of our members. During 2004, there has been more than 20 million page hits; the exact number is 20,580,075. This means our website is continuously being monitored. Feedback has also been really quick, and that prevents us from resting on our laurels. One good example is the joint purchase of home appliances that started just this week. A delay in the start of the joint purchase project led to criticism, but hopefully the end result will be that many members can make their home appliance purchases at a lower price than they budgeted.

Circulation of the Rakentaja.fi web magazine would already entitle us to 10^th place in a comparison of newspapers

As a result of its growth in membership, circulation of the Rakentaja.fi web magazine has increased at an incredible rate, and circulation of the latest edition, distributed on 6 October 2004, was already more than 71,000 copies (71,023). It’s easier to grasp the size of circulation by comparing it to the 2003 circulation of the more than 200 newspapers that belong to Finnish Newspapers Association. This year 7,040 cost estimates have been made for builders

Registered members can compile a free cost estimate through our website, and during the first nine months of this year 7,121 estimates have been performed – this means 9,000-9,500 estimates annually.
From February 2002 to September 2004 we have made the following cost estimates for different years.

For clarification, it should be mentioned that the cost estimates are not made with the so-called quick cost calculator; instead they are more accurate estimates made with Koti-Optimi. A total of 18,620 preliminary estimates were made using the quick cost calculator in September.

October’s numbers for changing residence: 560 families into new, just-built homes

For 560 families that have made their cost estimates with us, October 2004 has been set as the date for their move. Hopefully, things have stayed on schedule and we can say CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW HOME!

Correspondingly, 352 new starts have been marked for October.
